Love Island Games is in full swing on Peacock, and already we've seen everything we expected (and more) from the new series, from cute new couples (we're here for Justine and Jack), tough new challenges to the most awkward exit interview between exes Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard. However, one thing we weren't expecting was for Love Island legend Megan Barton-Hanson to depart the series early, so why has Megan left the show?
In case you're still catching up, in the most recent episode of Love Island Games, which aired last night (12th November) in the U.S. narrator Iain Stirling made a brief comment to confirm Megan had departed from the series.
So why has Megan left the show? Well when Iain announced her departure he confirmed Megan had exited Love Island Games due to medical reasons.
While Iain did not go into details earlier in the show Kyra, who Megan was forming a connection with, mentioned Megan had not been feeling well.
During the most recent episode Kyra said: "I'm okay. It's mean definitely upsetting... just obviously on different pages and I haven't been really able to get on the same page because she's been sick and out of here."
And later when it was confirmed Megan had left the show Kyra expressed her disappointment, saying: "I feel like I'm in shock. I thought she was going to walk in tonight and be like whatever..."
Megan entered the Love Island Games villa on day two and was initially coupled up with Love Island France's Steph, but began forming a connection with Love Island USA's Kyra when she entered the villa on day five.
Kyra chose to re-couple with Megan during the re-coupling ceremony, saying: "I want to couple up with this person because, coming into the villa, I feel, right off the bat, I kinda had a genuine connection with them.
"It was just easy to talk to them and felt like something I could see over time turning maybe into something. So the person that I would like to couple up with is... Megan."
However, as well as Megan feeling unwell, the couple also faced a different challenge as Megan's ex Eyal Booker also entered the villa. After a game of 'snog, marry, pie' in which Eyal pied Megan, the pair flirted and Megan said she wished Eyal had kissed her instead.
Unfortunately it appears Megan won't be able to progress her connection with either Eyal or Kyra after leaving for medical reasons.
In September, Megan opened up her health struggles on social media, explaining to her followers she was suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease.
At the time she wrote on her Instagram: "I'd never heard of it but think I may have had my first experience. I've not had pain/fever quite like it the last 5 days have been hell... If you have good Essex/London-based gynaecologist recommendations please let me know or any tips or remedies for the pain and to stop it from reoccurring."
Here's hoping Megan is feeling better now.
