Who Is Jake Gyllenhall's Girlfriend, Jeanne Cadieu?

'Kay, so you probably already know this all too well (lol), but Jake Gyllenhaal has dated a ton of famous ladies. However! What you may not realize is that he’s been dating his current GF since 2018 (!!!), so it seems like the relationship is pretty legit. Although it's been a few years, very little is known about Jake’s girlfriend, Jeanne Cadieu. Other than the fact that she’s a French model, she tends to keep a pretty low profile. Jeanne’s been modeling since high school

She may be young (she’s 16 years younger than Jake, in case you were wondering), but Jeanne has already been modeling for more than a decade. During a 2014 interview with FashionTV, Jeanne said she had kicked off her career two years earlier and planned to pursue modeling full-time after graduating from school. She’s currently signed with several agencies—Elite Model Management and Women Management in Milan and Paris—and in addition to walking during Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week (several times!), Jeanne has booked campaigns with La Mer, Levi’s 501, and R. M. Williams, among many others.

Most recently, Jeanne walked on major runways during New York, Paris, Milan, and London's respective fashion weeks. The runways in question? Versace, Fendi, Prada, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Stella McCartney, Schiaparelli, Victoria Beckham, Courreges, Valentino, Coperni, Dolce & Gabbana...and that's not even all of them. Casual!

She’s a student at Columbia

While her modeling career def keeps her busy, Jeanne is also working on her studies. It’s unclear what degree she’s pursuing or what she’s studying, but Jeanne is currently a student at Columbia University (where Jake also studied for a bit before dropping out to pursue acting).

Back in April 2020, she even posted a selfie from campus during the early days of the COVID-19 crisis (although she’s since wiped her IG grid). “Zoom is nice but it ain’t nothing like the real thing,” she captioned the pic. “Miss my community @columbia. Stay safe. Stay inside.”

She was first linked to Jake in the summer of 2018

It’s still a mystery how she and Jake met, but Jeanne first got fans’ attention after she and Jake were spotted on a European vacation together in the summer of 2018, during which they spent time in London and Greece. By December of that year, it seemed like Jake and Jeanne were ~officially~ an item.

“Jeanne is very mature for her age. She’s quirky, smart, and loves history, reading; she’s a really great and well-rounded person,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She and Jake really took things slow but are now pretty serious.”

She quarantined with Jake during the pandemic

During the early months of the pandemic, Jeanne quarantined with her BF in the Los Angeles guesthouse of Jake’s godmother, Jamie Lee Curtis. And apparently, spending that time together brought them a lot closer. “In a lot of ways, we’re family,” Jake said of Jeanne during a 2022 interview with Esquire. “I’m in a relationship that is full of love and support. I feel so at ease.”

Later on in the interview, he added, “I’m not unaware that there’s interest in my life. My life is wonderful. I have a relationship that is truly wonderful, and I have a family I love so much. And this whole period of time has made me realize that.”

A video of Jeanne sparked major controversy

In August 2020, a v questionable video made the rounds on the internet, showing Jeanne dancing at the 2019 Burning Man music festival in a Native American headdress, all while making a highly offensive hand gesture called “pied de nez.” In March 2021, a spokesperson for Native Americans Matter (an Indigenous and Tribal communities’ rights organization) even penned an open letter to the model, condemning her appropriation and demanding formal apology. However, Jeanne has yet to publicly respond to the video or the letter.

Her red carpet debut with Jake wasn’t planned

Although Jeanne attended the 2021 Tony Awards with Jake, the two walked the red carpet separately, and two days later at the premiere of The Lost Daughter, they planned to do the same thing. However, Jake sister’s Maggie ended up pulling them onto the red carpet with her at the last minute. As Jake explained during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, “My sister grabbed her, pulled her on that red carpet, which I think neither of us are really inclined to, you know, go on—even me. And to be there to support my sister was what we’re there to do and I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, this is family.’”

During that same interview, Jake even talked about the possibility of marrying and starting a family with Jeanne down the road. “I love her so much; she’s such a good person,” he said of Jeanne, adding that marriage is “a choice for both of us.”

Jake has said he's open to marriage 👀

Yep, and during an October 2021 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Jake dished (via People) “That's all I want is to be a good husband and a father…That really is what I want. And now that I have fulfilled a lot of things in my career that I feel comfortable with, I can safely say that. I don't know if I could have said that before.”

The actor *also* opened up about his 'ship with Jeanne and gushed, “I love her so much; she's such a good person,” and claimed marriage is “a choice for both of us.”

More recently, Jake only affirmed those statements during a June 6 convo with The Hollywood Reporter when he noted the following on a marriage timeline: “I'm not going to give you timing. I think we all get into that space of work, work, work, and for a long time my career took precedence, but I'm at a point in my life where I realize that family really is the only thing that matters to me.”

She and Jake are still going strong

It’s been almost six years since they were first linked, but Jeanne and Jake are still keeping their relationship on the DL. They seem to still be going strong as she recently joined Jake on the red carpet for the New York premiere of his new movie, Road House.
