The third season of Bridgerton arrived on Netflix last month, meaning fans have finally been able to see how Colin and Penelope's love story plays out. But what about Benedict Bridgerton's love story?
Away from the Polin frenzy, viewers are also itching to know whether Benedict Bridgerton's romance with Sophie Beckett will make the cut. Especially because in Julia Quinn's book series, Benedict is actually the focus of the third novel. Netflix just deviated from the original material for the TV adaptation - all while adding another love interest to the mix in the form of Lady Tilley Arnold, a wealthy widowed woman who Benedict strikes up a physical relationship with.
Luckily, the streaming service has already confirmed a Bridgerton series four, and announced its definitely going to focus on Benedict's story. "It's official – next season is Benedict season on #Bridgerton!!!" they wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) on 22nd July 2024.
They then followed up with a synopsis which read, "The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down -- until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball."
Who does Benedict marry?
In the third book, An Offer From a Gentlemen, Benedict meets Sophie Beckett at a masquerade party hosted by the Bridgertons. Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of an Earl, but after his death, her disdainful stepmother forces her to become a servant for her and her daughters. Anybody else getting Cinderella vibes?
Benedict doesn't realise who Sophie is when he meets her, and she refrains from telling him. Instead, they form an instant connection that is broken at midnight when Sophie suddenly disappears.

Benedict becomes fixated on their whirlwind meeting and vows to find Sophie and marry her. Two years later, Sophie is hired as a maid for Violet Bridgerton and the pair meet again, but Benedict doesn't realise it's her. Despite this, the pair form a close bond, and Benedict asks Sophie to be his mistress - still completely in the dark that she's the woman he's been searching for for years.
Eventually, he figures out that Sophie is the girl from the ball, and they marry and have four children together: Charles, Alexander, William, and Violet.

Will Sophie appear in Bridgerton season 3 and 4?
At this point, we're still in the dark about the season four cast. But, if it ends with the same masquerade ball as told in the book, it's pretty obvious that Benedict and Sophie will meet, and their love story will begin. After all, it's a pretty big romantic plot and it deserves to be told!
Bridgerton series three is now streaming on Netflix.
