Netflix's new series Lockwood & Co has firmly become our new TV obsession. The eight-part drama series sees three teenagers team up to fight ghosts in a parallel universe London. It has it all - classic one liners, a healthy dose of tension between the two main characters Lockwood and Lucy, and a lot of spiritual creatures.
In the world of Lockwood & Co, which is based on the novel series of the same name by Jonathan Stroud, 50 years before the story starts ghosts began haunting the people of the UK. Ghosts are now part of everyday life and the problem is so extreme curfews are put in place to protect people from ghosts who only come out at night.

To combat the ghosts, a number of agencies have been set up with teenagers making up the majority of ghost hunters, as their specially attuned senses of sight, touch and listening are more in tune with fighting ghosts.
However, if you've already watched the first few episodes of Lockwood & Co you may have found yourself getting confused with the different types of ghosts mentioned, there's not just one ghost in the world of Lockwood & Co after all.

Type One
Type One ghosts are the weakest and least dangerous but most common form of ghosts.
They don't seem to be aware of their surroundings, therefore making them less threatening. They're often trapped in single repetitive behaviours.
Examples of Type One ghosts include lurkers, grey haze and stalkers.
Type Two
Type Two ghosts are the most dangerous as they're stronger and contain residual intelligence.
They often return to the human world with a purpose of correcting an experienced injustice from their human life, such as the ghost of Annabel Ward does in the series.
In general they usually perceive the living and on occasion try to do harm to them.
Examples of Type Two ghosts include poltergeists, changers and dark spectres.
Type Three
Type Three ghosts are the rarest forms of ghosts as they are able to communicate fully with the living. They can on occasion impact the physical world around them and fight with other type three ghosts.

However, the three agents of Lockwood & Co are aware that the Skull is in fact a Type Three ghost.
