As all Baby-Sitters Club fans know, Kristy is the creator and president of the club and the protagonist of the show. She’s played by Sophie Grace in Netflix’s reboot—and 2020 Kristy comes with a canine pal, as Sophie told Seventeen!

“Honestly, it might have been the highlight of the whole season,” she said. “That dog was the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, and I got to carry little treats in my pocket so he could follow me around.”

Xochitl Gomez as Dawn Schafer

Dawn, the “alternate officer” of the Baby-Sitters Club, is played by Xochitl Gomez in the remake. Previous incarnations of the character have been white, so recasting Dawn as a woman of color is a particularly exciting move for this version.

“I think it’s important that it’s shown because not many Latina girls are out there [on TV],” Xochitl told Seventeen. “So I feel like having her as a character is really great and can really open some doors. It’s wonderful that they included a Hispanic family in the story.”

Kyndra Sanchez as Dawn Schafer

You might notice that season 2 of the Netflix series has a new Dawn. Xochitl Gomez had to skip off to the Marvel Cinematic Universe—she’s playing teenage intergalactic superhero Ms. America Chavez in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, NBD.

So a new actor has stepped into Dawn’s environmentally conscious shoes (I’m guessing Birkenstocks) for season 2. Lucky for us, Kyndra Sanchez doesn’t skip a beat!

In both the books and the Netflix adaptation, Jessi is a dancer. She goes to a different school to focus on ballet.
