As the lead in Greta Gerwig's hotly anticipated Barbie film, Margot Robbie has been dressing in character for pretty much the best part of a year at this point. Seriously, though: every 'fit of hers that we can recall from the past few months has been some variation on hot pink, sparkly, or directly inspired by a vintage doll. Not that we're complaining, ofc – it's been one hell of a ride.
But, still, it's nice to see Margot in something a lil different for a change... Which is why we're absolutely lapping up the photos from the actress' most recent photoshoot with Vogue Australia.
It's the 33-year-old actress' *fourth* cover for the publication (woah!), and while it would be safe to assume she'd be in full Barbie garb for the occasion, Margot broke with recent tradition to go full high-fashion instead – and not a hot pink hue in sight. Woohoo!
For the cover itself, the star rocks a glorious red floral crepe two-piece by Balenciaga that is just *so* chic – but it's the fashion-forward 'fits from the rest of the shoot that we can't get out of our heads, tbh.
In one particularly gorge pic, Margot is pictured in an *insane* lil co-ord set by Chanel, featuring a long-sleeve black super-cropped top with luscious white feathers and a matching mini-skirt, worn with a gigantic cocktail-style ring to boot.
The pic that *really* got our jaws on the floor, though, is of Margot posing basically naked wearing a totally see-through embellished bra and skirt. Now, for reasons we cannot fully understand, the image in question doesn't seem to have made its way to social media yet... But kind people that we are, we've managed to track it down on the Vogue website itself. Just click here and scroll down to the second pic. You're welcome.
Margot rarely does the naked dressing trend, so this is a BIG moment for us die-hard fashion gurlies. The actress' amazing 'fit is by Paco Rabanne (now just called Rabanne, btw), and features a teeeeeeeny metal wire bra top with crystal flowers covering her nips, and a maxi skirt made up of the smaller flowers, crystal pendants and the brand's signature sequin discs. It's giving... chandelier?!?! And we're not mad about it.
If this is what Margot's post-Barbie era is going to look like, we're sure in for a treat.
