Leo Woodall's The White Lotus sex scene, revisited

Leo Woodall might be Netflix's leading man in the new series of One Day, but it was during 2022's The White Lotus that he garnered international attention, thanks to his role as the cheeky Essex chappy, Jack. For many viewers, it's his sex scene with non-biological uncle Quentin (played by Tom Hollander) that they can't get out of their heads.

*Mild spoilers* In case you need a reminder, The White Lotus season 2 was set in Sicily, and followed a number of different storylines unfolding at a gorgeous hotel. One of which involved Quentin attempting to murder Tanya (played by Jennifer Coolidge) to steal her millions.

We're introduced to Quentin's nephew Jack, who begins a flirtationship with Tanya's assistant Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) to distract her from what's going on. The pair seem to be getting on swimmingly - until Tanya accidentally walks in on Jack and Quentin having sex, and her suspicions about what's *actually* happen all begin to fall into place.

Speaking about the moment, Leo told Variety at the time, "When I found out about the [sex] scene, I was speechless for a while. I’m such a huge fan of Tom’s, and when I heard that he was going to be playing my uncle, I thought, ‘That is unreal.’ And then when I found out that I was going to shag him as well — that was kind of surreal."

The set was closed for the scene, and Leo says an "incredible" intimacy coordinator was on hand to help everything go smoothly.

In an interview with The Sunday Times Style Magazine, he added, "When I found out I was doing it, I couldn’t speak for ten seconds then I thought, 'that’s such a brilliant moment.' [Sex scenes] are weird to do but then you’re like, 'let’s just embrace it.' We had intimacy co-ordinators and I felt very comfortable."

Separately, Tom Hollander commented, "It’s more technical than anything else when you’re actually doing it. You know, ‘Is this the right angle? Does this look right?’ But there was a mutually respectful energy between us, too. And on the set, the production was very tender around those moments. It certainly was around that one. We just wanted to do it right."
