Over the weekend we got to relive our childhoods as David Tennant and Catherine Tate returned as the Doctor and Donna Noble for the first of three Doctor Who 60th anniversary special episodes.
The first of the three episodes 'The Star Beast' aired at 6:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday 25th November, and saw the Doctor and Donna reunited when two different alien species crash onto earth, wreaking havoc across London.
And after months of build-up, it appears the anticipation was real for many Doctor Who fans as the episode had an overnight audience of 5.08million, according to figures quoted by the BBC's entertainment correspondent Lizo Mzimba.

It's the biggest Doctor Who overnight figures in four years since 2019's New Years special starring Jodie Whittaker, and it's also the biggest drama launch of the entire year.
It's also worth bearing in mind the 5.08million won't be the final figures for the episode as it only involves people who watched it live or recorded it and watched it shortly after. There's still those who watched it in the following seven days after broadcast that will need to be counted.
In comparison to other TV on that evening BBC's Strictly Come Dancing had 7.67 million, while ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here had 4.83 million.

The next episode of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials 'Wild Blue Yonder' is set to air on 2nd December at 6:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The special episode will follow on from episode one in which Donna spilt a mug of coffee on the Tardis, causing it to malfunction and send the Doctor and Donna to an unknown location.
According to the official episode synopsis the episode will see: "An out-of-control Tardis takes the Doctor and Donna to the furthest edge of adventure. To escape, they must face the most desperate fight of their lives, with the fate of the universe at stake."
The teaser trailer for the next episode is giving seriously creepy vibes and sees the Doctor and Donna separated from each other and trapped in a deserted-looking room.
