If you've browsed the occult section of a bookstore or just scrolled through WitchTok, you might know that there's a lot of different kinds of magic. There's sex magic, candle magic, crystal magic...you get the picture. So let's dive into something called ~attraction magic~.

What Is Attraction Magic?

Attraction magic encompasses all kinds of spells, intention-setting, and rituals designed to draw something (or someone) closer to you. It's typically short-lived, potent, fast-acting, and solely focused on attracting this thing/person to you, rather than encouraging longevity or progress. Although attraction magic is typically associated with love and relationships, it can also apply to wealth, health, career opportunities, friendships, possessions, etc. If you can dream it, you can draw it closer.

How Does Attraction Magic Work?

Attraction magic is closely aligned with—but NOT the same as—the Law of Attraction, the metaphysical rule that like attracts like. Instead, attraction magic involves using a certain degree of manipulation to accelerate or activate an attraction. The energy or opportunity has to already exist in some shape or form. Attraction magic creates a thread between you and what you seek, so the energy has an anchor.

To perform attraction magic, you need to have a clear intention, so you can visualize exactly what you’re attracting. But after your spell is complete, you should keep an open mind as to what unfolds. It’s possible that things may turn out slightly differently from what you envisioned—you might even end up receiving what you NEED instead of what you WANT.

How to Perform Attraction Magic

Pick an appropriate time of the month and week to act out your attraction magic ritual. Spells to increase what you wish to grow (money, love, opportunities) should be conducted between the New and Full Moon, during the waxing phase when the Moon is growing. If you can pick an actual New Moon date, even better. New Moons are all about activation!

Each day of the week is also aligned with a particular planet, so you can match your intention to that planetary influence for an extra dose of powerful vibes:

  • Monday is ruled by the Moon, and it's associated with insight, intuition, and psychic ability.
  • Tuesday is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and drive, so it's a great day to set intentions relating to ambition, progress, or resolving conflict.
  • Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, and it's a fit for travel, business, pitching ideas, sending applications, or looking for new opportunities.
  • Thursday is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, so this is a day to attract good fortune and abundance.
  • Friday is ruled by Venus, and it's perfect for all things love- and money-related.
  • Saturday is ruled by Saturn, planet of structure, making this another good career day.
  • Sunday is ruled by the Sun. Set any big-picture intentions related to your life purpose or ultimate long-term goal.

Think about talismans and objects that could represent your intention—like certain types of crystals (clear quartz is always a good idea if you're not sure which to use), lucky charms, or photos or images that show what you're trying to attract (kinda like you're making a vision board, but without the board). No need to spend a ton of $$$. Consider what symbols of your theme you already have in your possession—like coins for wealth, flowers for love, or sugar or honey for friendship. Don't worry about getting too technical here. If the objects you use in your spell resonate with you, they’ll work!

It's best to use an attraction spell on yourself to radiate attractive energy. That way, you’re more likely to get what you need (even if it’s not exactly what want). An attraction spell will draw what you truly desire towards you.

An Attraction Magic Ritual

Create your own sachet of success and sleep with it under your pillow for a week to draw what you desire closer to you within seven days.

  • First, choose a day to perform your ritual, using the Moon phases and planetary days.
  • When that day comes, clarify your intention and what exactly are you hoping to draw closer to you. Write your intention down on a small piece of paper.
  • Next, find a little cloth bag you can fit items into. Ideally, this will be a small drawstring sachet, but you can use whatever you have on hand—you can even tie items in a scarf.
  • Now, fill your sachet. Start with the piece of paper you wrote your intention on, then add relevant tokens, mementos, crystals, flowers, and any pictures or drawings that relate to your intention. Be careful not to make your sachet too bulky or pointy, because you're going to sleep on it!
  • Now, you have your ~sachet of success~! Sit quietly with it in your hands. Take four long, slow deep breaths in and out. Focus on relaxing your body and clearing your mind. Close your eyes and visualize your attention moving inwards, to your mind’s eye.
  • Think about your intention and what you’re trying to attract. Imagine the scene you’re dreaming of. Make the imagery brighter and bigger, the sound louder, the atmosphere more charged, and the scents and sensations more real. Ask to receive and radiate the energy to attract this reality.
  • Imagine the scene folding into itself, intensifying into one pulsating orb of energy that moves from the screen of your mind down towards your heart. Picture this orb landing in your heart, connecting with your body, pulsating in rhythm with your heartbeat. You have absorbed the energy of your vision.
  • Now take four conscious, deep breaths in and out. Open your eyes and immediately place your ~sachet of success~ under your pillow.
  • For the next seven days, sleep on your sachet. Each morning and night, take it out and hold it before you go to bed and when you make up in the morning. Take those moments to remember your vision and picture that orb of energy. Ta-da: You have activated your spell!
